Dukit by Armando Lao

“Dukit” is one of the official entries to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival under the New wave feature category.

Shot entirely in Betis, Pampanga, the film features the religious traditions, musicality and languages that is uniquely Kapampangan.  The story focuses on the centuries-old traditions of woodcarving in the town of Betis in Pampanga, their untiring devotion to their patron saint Santiago, and their struggle to retain the town’s woodcarving traditions at the fast-paced modern world.

Except for one actor, the cast and half of the production team are mostly Kapampangan, and they tend to make the movie authentic and close to their heritage.

The movie is written and directed by Armando Lao, and Produced by Center Stage Productions.
