Things to look for in a franchise (PR)

AB 4 things to look for in a Franchise Ecard

Franchising has boomed recently because of its reliability and potential as an investment for aspiring entrepreneurs and OFW’s.

Compared to starting out on your own franchising has several benefits chief such as reduced risk on the part of the franchisee. Franchisors have developed a system that takes out the guesswork on how to run the business. The have also built up a brand elevating it from other businesses. These factors have helped the industry thrive with thousands of franchise stores opening every year. To get started with franchising here are tips to help you choose the right franchise for you.

1) Reputation and Brand:

This should be the top consideration for aspiring franchisees since with today’s hyper competitive market investing in a well-known brand usually boosts your chances for success. In the water refilling industry, Aquabest is considered the top brand with more than 700 stores nationwide. The company invests in high profile marketing and advertising on television or billboards to ensure that it is top of mind among consumers. At the same time it has a solid track record of industry reputation and integrity.

2) Support & Training

To learn more about a franchise make sure to schedule an appointment and visit the office of the company you’re interested in. The visit should give you an idea of the company and while there, you can check out their training facilities and documentation. This will give you a feel for the people behind the business and help determine if you can work with them. This is important because taking out a franchise will be a long term commitment.

Aquabest offers free franchise seminars to those interested in learning more about the water refilling industry. At the same time, it offers its franchisees solid training in how to run and operate a water store so its franchisees are ready to manage their businesses.

3) Financing options

Getting adequate financing is an important factor in choosing a franchise. Knowing what you can afford will be essential before beginning to look at franchises of interest. Certain banks like BPI have agreements with Aquabest to provide franchise loans that make it easier to get a franchise. Apart from bank loans the company can also offer interested interested parties discounts and other financing options.

4) Franchise Affiliation

More than a credible brand a franchisors affiliation should also be a serious consideration in choosing a franchise. Aquabest is a member of two of the country’s top franchising groups the Philippine Franchise Association and the Association of Filipino Franchisers Incorporated. As a member of these groups Aquabest practices industry best to look after the best interests of franchisees and franchisors alike.

Oh-so filling Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties!

I had a chance to taste these treats from Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties in Market Market mall in Taguig. I was supposed to be tasting their patties last month if not for my gastritis/gallstone attacks last month. Well anyway, i’m glad that I had another shot on this one, and we see to it that we’ll be coming in after our work shift.

Ang matakaw na JV, lolz! (I still wub wu anyway xoxo!)

Why “we”? ‘coz I’ll be tagging this crazy gerbil with me, well hello again JV! 😛

We arrived at the Market Market at around 8pm, and I absolutely hate the fact that it took us 2 hours just to get there from Ayala (blame it on the undisciplined drivers in EDSA yo! Esp. bus drivers! XD) well anyway, i’m glad that we saw their store immediately, and I can’t wait to taste their delectable treats! 🙂

their store is strategically situated in the 5th floor of the Market Market mall, where the cinemas and the rock climbing stall is located. Everyone who wants to watch their favorite movies can get their treats easily, now that’s convenient.

The RC Jamaican Patties in Market market is quite small but cool. It has a reggae vibe because of its design. Their yellow interiors looks inviting and cool to my taste.

Royal Caribbean Jamaican Patties is known for their well-loved patties that is perfect for snacks and light meals. There are so many to choose from on their menu, but since we arrived minutes before the mall’s closing time, we only had 4 flavors to choose from. (more on that later)

Aside from their best-selling patties, they also has baked mac and baked goods on their menu. I would love to have some pasta for dinner, well maybe next time. 🙂

As for their patties, the crust is light and flaky. All patties are freshly-made, along with their pasta treats and their baked goodies. Their fillings are well-seasoned and flavorful, and some with the hint of spiciness, something that is unique in jamaican and mexican dishes that I tried before.

We tried 4 flavors from their menu, and I had to say that the beef supreme is my personal favorite. the filling itself is really delicious and the crust adds crunch to the patty. JV commended the beef royale for its taste and it has the right kind of spiciness to the patty.

the other two flavors that we’ve tried were the cheese burst and beef jerky, and they are both delicious as well.

note that all Jamaican patties are freshly baked by their trained crew, so rest assured that you’ll be served with deliciously cooked patties.

As for the drinks, we ordered two of their premium drinks: four seasons and mango fruit drink. Love their drinks to bits!

busog lusog me and the RC Jamaican Patties crew, thank you for accommodating us! 🙂

We never thought that we’ll be this busog after going here at Royal Carribean Jamaican Patties! everything is served fresh and everything is affordable, and worth it dayuhin! we’ll drop by again next time!

Lessons from the Professional Blogging Summit

Image from Ms Janette Toral

It was nice to learn from the bloggers invited from the Professional Blogging Summit, for I’ve learned something from them that is needed to improve my stint in blogging, from building an online community, to deal with the online monsters and bashers, to transitioning from one niche to another and to use different social media tools in gaining followers and views to your blog.

I also invited my friend Guia, who also blogs on OMG Komiks so that she could learn more on how to promote her blog and to reach out to promote her advocacy to our own local comics industry. Glad to see fellow bloggers who are also here to witness this event. (Hi’yall Slickmaster and Sporty Guy!)

Here are some of the insights from the said event:

Azrael Coladilla of talks about creating a lively online community and on how to be responsible and to engage people in giving insights and ideas, and on how to maintain the peace despite the conflichts. It is important to reach out and if ever mistakes are being made, we should learn from it. I had to say that I enjoyed his lively presentation

Ross Del Rosario explains to us the origins behind his stint in blogging, on the blogging issues that he is facing right now, and how he’s handling them. I’ve heard all about these issues and until now, I’m still shocked on the issues that are still growing until today.

Jay-L Aquino discusses everything about his use of social media as a tool to interact with his followers. Being a social media strategist for known local celebrities makes him an expert in this field.

Meanwhile, Seph Cham teaches us on how to be visible and to create good relationships with the brands that he’s endorsing. Making a unique content to his blog and to interact with the people is the key to make his fashion/lifestyle blog a success. Another thing that I learned from him from the event is that now that he has his own domain, he has more freedom to express himself through his blog. (note: he has a joint fashion blog before having his own domain, and yes I’ve been following (them) him for years now, for I find that fashion blog informative and worth reading (until now? Yes pa rin naman.))

Sai Montes‘ presentation is something that caught my attention in a way, for I have plans to have my own online shopping site soon. to utilize the use of social media sites, engaging with customers and establishing good relationships to everyone to make it a big success.

And lastly, Jeoff Salas talks about being a PR-friendly blogger. I think this is important to take notice since I’m now working with different companies for collaborations and tie-ups.

It takes a lot of responsibility to make a blog a big success and as a blogger, we need to be responsible in creating content, establish connections and to interact with everyone, offline and online.

I would like to thank Digital Filipino, Dpop and its sponsors (ProFriends, A Venue Mall, Best Western Plus Antel Hotel, Island Rose and Salad Box) for this wonderful learning event! 🙂

Toni Gonzaga for Acer! (PR)

_XXX4840

As multi-hyphenates go, Toni Gonzaga is one of the most talented. She excels as a TV host, reigns as a movie queen, sings like a top performer and moves products just with the sheer force of her charisma.

Fresh off the top-grossing success of her co-starring film with Piolo Pascual (Starting Over Again), Toni is paired anew with John Lloyd Cruz in a Saturday night sitcom titled Home Sweetie Home. She recently released her sixth studio album, Celestine, while a concert called Celestine Toni Gonzaga is set in October.

Toni, 30, also co-hosts with her real-life sister, Alex Gonzaga, a mobile series entitled Team Gonzaga, which can be exclusively viewed on ABS-CBN mobile. These body of work is on top of her hosting duties for The Buzz, ASAP, The Voice of the Philippines and Pinoy Big Brother: All-In. to say that Toni is busy is an understatement.

_XXX4775

“I think now that I’ve reached this age and after everything that I’ve been through in this industry, I just really feel that everything that has happened to me has been God’s grace. I don’t really want to take credit for everything that I did in the past because I feel like I don’t own any of this. Everything is just given to me and anytime, God can take it all away and that’s why I’m making the most out of it and giving it my all, making it like it’s my last every time I’m given an opportunity,” the winsome celebrity says.

With PBB:All-In wrapped up, her hectic schedule has become more bearable. “I guess everything is just time management. I’m really thankful for my staffs who really know how to manage my time. It also helps that I don’t have any vices. I’m a homebody. I don’t really like to go out that much. Whenever I’m given a free time or free day, I just stay home and rest,” Toni states.

Toni still stays with her parents but when she’s away from home for work, she stays in touch with them every so often. “We get connected every day through texting and calling — updating each other with what’s happening with my sister Alex now that she’s also busy with her career and is getting all these great opportunities and breaks,” Toni shares. “So we don’t really get to see each other that much and spend a lot of time together that’s why we get updated through calls and texts and sometimes MMS when want to ask something for advice or if we want to buy something for each other.”

_XXX4767_

With the kind of lifestyle that she lives and with the busy schedule that she has, it’s very important for Toni to have a gadget that she can really rely and depend on. She found that in Acer, which recently awarded her as the Brand Ambassador for the Philippines.
“I think there really wasn’t that much convincing to do. As soon as I was asked—it was my Mom who told me that Acer was interested to get me as their ambassador, I didn’t have any second thoughts. I said yes right away. I think for as long as I can remember, I was still in high school or college days, I already knew about the brand and I grew up seeing the brand in my Mom’s office. So, I was already familiar with the brand. It’s an established brand and has been there in the market. A lot of companies trust Acer, so I know I’m going to be in good hands because I believe in the product. I trust the product. And I know it’s worth something that I’m proud to be a part of,” Toni reveals.

“Toni is the perfect brand ambassador for our target market, which is the young and mobile. She is not just a beauty but she has talent. Everyone knows that she can sing and she can dance, but more importantly, she is a very religious person and family-oriented. With these qualities, I believe that we made a good choice,” says Mr. Manuel Wong, General Manager of Acer Philippines.

“My favorite feature on my smartphone is its capability to connect to the Internet. With the kind of work that I have—I’m a talk-show host— I have to be updated with what’s the latest, what’s going on in the Internet and social media and the news around the world. I have to feed myself with information every day as much as I can. So that’s very important for me. I don’t have much time to log on to my laptop, so everything just has to be within the reach of my hands,” Toni says, adding that web sites bookmarked on her gadgets are, “My email, my mail.com. I don’t really get to shop that much, so I visit netaporter.com and luisaviaroma.com. There are also certain web sites that I like checking out like faith.com, and of course, Google and Yahoo for news.”

Indeed, it’s one blessing after another for showbiz’s hardest-working woman. “I’m very grateful and it’s such an honor to represent a brand I trust and I believe in. We have one goal and that is to encourage a lot of people that they don’t have to buy expensive gadgets to live a convenient and comfortable life for as long as you know that there’s a brand that you can trust and which can give you the same quality that other products offer at a very affordable price, especially with how our life is now. It’s important to be practical and trust a brand that’s been in the market for many, many years.”

Located at the heart of Heritage Park Area 2 of Fort Bonifacio Taguig City, Aeternum Garden boasts its grandiose and inviting facilities such lush greenery, man-made lagoon and waterfalls, the viewing chapel where funeral services take place and the peaceful columbarium.

Jan Vincent Mercado, President of The Fort Park Estate Inc. who introduced the country’s first True Garden Columbary, “Aeternum”: The Park Estate Columbary discussed how they stumble upon the idea of putting up Aeternum Garden. He and his family received an offer before from the local city government to buy the property which then was just a piece of land. It was bought, developed and now became the country’s first true garden columbary. “Living the life you want is very important but you need to live it well without harming other people.” This is one of the inspiring lines from Vincent Mercado which people need to live by.

A tribute to the mentor

A great teacher is hard to find. It is a rare gem, a diamond in the rough, and I am thankful that I’ve found some at my beloved alma mater.

Dr. Jose Randy Labicane Velayo, or Sir Jorov, is one of the happiest, approachable and hand-on professors that I had during my stint in college. I’ve heard about him when I’m still in my 2nd or 3rd year that he’s been giving high grades to all students, and he’s been great in teaching design-related subjects to the students. I remember the time that my batchmates wanted to have him as a professor so that they could pass their subject with ease, while I’m thinking of having him as a teacher to learn more about photoshop basics.

It is an answered prayer to have him as my professor in IMAGE, or Image Processing. I learned how to use photoshop, illustrator and flash for the whole sem. The class is indeed fun, fast, informative and challenging, not because it’s been an interest to most students to learn how to edit pictures and to create stunning graphics, but also he is one of the most approachable and helpful professors I’ve ever encountered.

It was my last semester in the school when I had him as my professor again, this time in CEFIT or Code of ethics in IT professionals. It must’ve been faith I think to have him again in the classroom walls, this time teaching more about computer ethics, do’s and don’ts in the computer, research stuff and many more. While I’m already finished my thesis before my final sem, my schedule’s been erratic because of my OJT and I almost flunked in his subject because of my internship schedule, but he’s been understanding on my situation and he allowed me to come late in class and to do my best academically in his subject. Needless to say, Sir Jorov’s been helpful in all forms, and I’m thankful that I passed his subject with ease.

Sometime after graduation, I still managed to drop by at the campus to take a sneak peek at the classrooms and on one of the computer labs just to see him and my other professors. It was a breath of fresh air to see Sir Jorov doing his craft, and he even managed to sneak out and say hi to me. I will never forget that moment that he talked to me about going back to school and to consider taking up masters since I’m literally bored from work and my previous job is making me crazy. I guess I need to step up my game and be better in my craft.

The quick conversations lessened as I become more busy with my work and with my life, and the only time that I got to see him is during thesis defense, where I was invited as one of the thesis panellist to the graduating students. I was also shocked (in a good way) when I found out that my high school chemistry teacher is now one of the sought-after university professors – an IT professor to be exact. And like Sir Jorov, he is one of the most loved in the school because of his wit, humor and love for teaching.

That was the time that I added him on facebook after searching for him online. He just added me as a friend early this year on FB, and i’m glad to see new changes from him through this facebook profile

And today, i’m one of those who are still shocked from his sudden demise.

I found out after reading several posts from his profile that he was being stabbed several times and he had severe fractures on his skull. His things were also being stolen. It was a gruesome murder. For me it was a hate crime. I can only cry in disbelief, he’s been a good person to everyone, a very helpful mentor, a loving friend to all and yet this demon of a killer ended his life. I cannot question God’s intentions, but I can’t help to ask, “Why him? Why not the other people who’s been a living hell to others?”

If only God can give us the right answers to these questions… but for now we will never know. Time will tell when will these gruesome fairy tales to end, and right now I can only pray for peace in our hearts and to give justice to this treacherous murder.

To Sir Jorov, I haven’t had a chance to say thank you properly, for the teachings that will be our stronghold before stepping outside to the real world. Thank you, for you’re always been this kind and selfless, helping us students so that we could learn. It is your selflessness that made us learn a lot in our chosen craft. You’ve been a blessing to us students, co-professors, friends and family. I can only pray to give us peace in our hearts, to heal us from this heartbreak and to be our comfort at this trying time because of your passing.

Thank you again, We will miss you big time Sir Jorov, we will never forget you.

** UPDATE: One of the assailants has been arrested, pls help us find the other suspect shown here. Pls email me, the police or Sir Velayo’s family for information about the suspect. Thank you and God bless.

Last quarter madness, and hello october!

Hello again starcatchers! It’s me again, how are you?

I’ve been busy these past few days, and I have some catching up to do on this blog. Last month’s been great despite hot having enough blog post, but I don’t mind coz my dad went back here for a well-deserved month-long vacation.

Yes this blog’s been lacking of updated post for I wanna be with Papa while he’s here. It’s all worth it methinks. my tardiness/absenses records and the early out records are on a high for I wanna be with dad. I know that I’m being irresponsible but I’m doing this to detress and have fun with the fambam as well.

It’s been crazy fun, and I love it. 😀

It’s also my sister’s birth month, and I know that she’s happy for we’re all complete on her special day. Days are happier when dad’s around despite the chaos brought by the recent typhoon #MarioPH.

I had to admit that I almost forgot that I have a giveaway, my bad! I’m really sorry for the delay, I just need to finish my family duties first before everything else. I’ve already had a lucky winner (congrats girl!!!) and better check it out if you’re the lucky one who will enjoy the pampering sessions from Nail Cocktales spa. 🙂

so apologies for the lack of post, hoping for you to have a great time ahead! Cheers y’all! 😀
