Lights and sounds show at Ayala, and thanksgiving thoughts

Sharing these set of pictures from the lights and sounds show at the Ayala triangle here in Makati. After two years of working, it’s actually my first time to come here. I never thought that it could be this FUN! My pictures didn’t do justice (ahhh why you fail me dear phone camera? :c ) it’s better to come to see this amazing show for yourself! 😀

It really feels like christmas.

I’m glad that I went here with the crazy half, JV. I feel like a child again with all the dancing lights and amazing sounds of the christmas songs serenading us as we watch the lights coming to life. It was beautiful.

While today is thanksgiving day (in the US), allow me to post the things that I’m thankful for.

  • I’m thankful having my job right now. I know that I’ve been complaining on the tiresome 6-day work week, but I had to admit that I learned a lot, not just on the SEO side but also on the social media marketing as well. I also have more spare time after working on my workload so that I could work my blog and write a thing or two (or just to make a little tweak on my blog to make it more…like a blog. 😛
  • As of this writing, today’s actually my second year at work! I never thought that I’ll be staying here for such a long time. Still hoping for more great changes that’ll benefit us (corporate slaves) soon!
  • Despite all the setbacks, I’m thankful that I got to survive all the sickness and the accidents that happened to me. I really need to be careful this time around.
  • That despite all my craziness, hunger pangs, laziness and being busy with work, blog and other things around me, I have someone who’s also willing to go crazy with me. Since then, it’s been a fun ride, we may have our own ups and downs, but we see to it that we’ll get through with it. 🙂
  • Thankful for the family and my dearest friends who are always there through thick and thin. They are my everyday blessings.
  • Glad that opportunities are still coming, that there are people that are still true and never had a issue with anything and to anyone. Communication is the key, and to be responsible is a must. This is something that I learned from my blogger friends in order to have good contact with the people from the blogging industry and to the people who’s handling the events that I went to.

So that’s it for now! Thanks for the time for reading this and happy thanksgiving! 🙂

Takoyaki Love at TamaYaki!

I’ve tried different takoyaki stalls scattered around the Metro, but there’s this one that stood the most.

While the best takoyaki that I tried is from Ozen in Malabon (during the Malabon food tour), there’s this another one that is most accessible to my place in Manila.

Here it is, it’s TamaYaki!

I was one of the bloggers who were invited to taste their delectable variety of takoyaki and their blended drinks, and I had to say that everything’s so delicious. The store itseld is spacious, the interiors are really cute and modern, and their logos and funky designs that makes every otaku fan want to stay here and hang out while having their own takoyaki delights.

Eh kung akala ko may kinalaman siya sa zodiac sign na cancer (crab) and taurus (bull) ito? yun pala design lang siya 😛 (looks cute btw!)

Just to give you guys an overview, TamaYaki is originated in China and now they had over 200 branches all over Asia. It was last year when TamaYaki is launched here in the Philippines and they hav several branches here in Manila.

While the usual order of takoyaki is filled with octopus and veggie trimmings, TamaYaki has a variety of takoyaki dishes and blended drinks to choose from.

Every takoyaki ball is carefully cooked, and they inserted the fillings inside so that it’ll be evenly cooked to perfection.

Every serving is served fresh, and we were given a chance to take a sneak peek on how they prepare their takoyakis.

Every order of takoyaki is served in this cutesy box with takoyaki ball inside topped with generous servings of bonito flakes and nori.

The takoyaki balls are much bigger than the usual ones found in the market, and it is really delicious! Here’s the closer look on what’s inside.

We were given a chance to try some of their bestsellers, so here they are!

Kani and Cheese
Kani and shrimp
Pork BBQ

Not pictured is the seasoned octopus and double cheese. My top three faves are: seasoned octopus, kani and cheese and pork bbq.

As for their drinks, good thing that they had milk teas and juices available for everyone. I ordered their mango yoghurt juice (one of their bestsellers) and it was fun having this drink because of the yoghurt popballs. I recommend having these sinkers and try them for yourself!

I also tried their peach aloe green tea and passionfruit tea, the peach aloe green tea stood out the most because of its sweet bitter taste that is so refreshing and balanced at the same time.

Fellow blogger had this drink (didn’t catch the name, gomen) and she said that the one that she had is so yummy. 🙂

aside from their takoyakis and drinks, they also had rice meals to offer for everyone.

They also had ramen on their menu soon! Looking forward to that on my next visit!

When you visit TamaYaki, don’t forget to join in their online contest to get a chance to win a free takoyaki! So make sure to follow them on FB, Twitter and IG ok?

It was a blast to try their variety of takoyaki and drinks, can’t wait for my next visit soon! 🙂

Tanghalang Pilipino supports the celebration of World AIDS Day with a restaging of MELANIE (PR)

my melanie

Manila, Philippines – The rise in the number of HIV cases in the Philippines has become a cause of alarm to the population in the recent years. To date, the Philippines is one of nine countries in the world where the number of HIV cases has significantly increased to 25% and continues to grow. According to the Philippine National AIDS Council (PNAC), there were 565 new HIV cases confirmed by the STD/AIDS Cooperative Central Laboratory (SACCL) and reported to the latest HIV and AIDS Registry. This was 32% higher compared to the same period last year.More alarming is the fact that almost 30% of this new HIV cases were among young people ages 13-24 years old. This, plus the pedestrian understanding of Filipinos and limited knowledge about HIV and AIDS that led Tanghalang Pilipino, the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, into forging a partnership with global organization UNICEF in creating a non-threatening and engaging campaign to raise awareness on this sensitive issue. This gave birth to MELANIE, a forum theater production, which premiered on October 2013, and has since toured Metro Manila, specifically the areas with the highest rates of HIV and AIDS. The play aims to engage, educate and entertain the audience, leaving them not only in a fit of giggles but also armed with knowledge regarding HIV and AIDS. It offers a positive perspective for those who are affected and for those who are living with an HIV positive.

In celebration of World AIDS day this December, MELANIE, cited as one of the most memorable plays of 2013 by the prestigious BroadwayWorld.Com returns to the stage for a limited run from December 4 – 14, 2014 at the Tanghalang Huseng Batute (Studio Theater) of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

“MELANIE” having died of AIDS-related complications yet having been open about her condition, her death becomes the subject of controversy by the townsfolk. Fear and speculation spread rapidly through the community, almost as quickly as how those who live there exchange sexual partners. One by one, the characters discuss the horrors of “becoming like Melanie,” and we witness not only a fear of infection, but also fears stemming from ignorance. We see not only a fear of the condition, but of rejection, of loneliness, and even fear of the ghost of Melanie herself.

Using Forum Theater as a device, the production effectively inculcates important information about HIV and AIDS to the audience by involving them into the performance through an interactive ‘breaking of the fourth wall’. This way, audience feel that they are part of the process, and at a greater extent, involved in creating a solution.

MELANIE is directed by Tanghalang Pilipino’s Associate Artistic Director Tuxqs Rutaquio, whose works include Walang Kukurap (2012) and the rap-through musical Kleptomaniacs (2014), both of which talk about corruption in the Philippine government. The Tanghalang Pilipino Actors Company lead the cast, which also include Phi Palmos, Cyril Balderama, and Anton Nolasco. Penned by famous playwright Layeta Bucoy, the powerhouse artistic staff includes John Batalla for the lights design and Jed Balsamo for the music.

ABOUT TANGHALANG PILIPINO. Tanghalang Pilipino is the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Tanghalang Pilipino envisions raising Philippine theater to heights of professional and artistic excellence, dedicated to developing and training actors, playwrights and designers with special emphasis in the production of original Filipino plays. By staging plays from the repertoire of Philippine past and plays in translation from other countries, TP hopes to bring to the experience of both artists and audience the best of Philippine and global theater tradition. Tanghalang Pilipino maintains a regular training program for actors through its Actors’ Company. The only one of its kind in the country, the Actors’ company is a pool of professional theater actors who go through intensive training in acting, movement, dance, voice, script analysis, improvisation, directing and other production-related courses. Members of this prestigious and privileged group are among the most respected artists in the Philippine theater, television and film communities. Now on its 28th Season, Tanghalang Pilipino promises to present high-caliber productions celebrating the Filipino artistry in the next years to come.

Hello birthday month! (my pre-December post/thoughts to ponder)

Aisaka Taiga says Hello! (Tsundere style!)
Aisaka Taiga says Hello! (Tsundere style!)

December is fast approaching! Everybody’s going crazy with all the christmas rush that is going on in the Metro. As for me, I’ve been busy doing my work from mondays to saturdays, and my blogging assignments during weekends and/or on my free time.

Sadly, I need to let go for other things due to my hectic schedule – choir rehearsals, home duties, reunions, night outs with closest friends… I’m thankful that the boyfriend is so near my office or else I still don’t know what to do.

My plans this year didn’t push through though, well I still hope and pray that maybe next year I can now have more free time to do more things than the usual. I really wanna go back to the choir, to have more time for home duties and to go back to school. I pray for financial freedom and maybe to settle down in a more comfortable home than the one that I’m living right now.

Who knows? Maybe before the end of the year, I might be one of the lucky ones who will win the Lotto diba? *wishful thinking pero malay natin diba?*

I’m gonna be a year older next month! I had to say that it’s been a good year to me unlike last year. I can say that I’m lucky to have someone by my side right now and just enjoying everything that life has to offer for us. There are even opportunities for us two, and how I wish I can blog them all for you. The plans for our couple foodie blog is still on the works, and if I have more “me” time then this joint blog will push through this year.

For now, this needs to wait.

Time will come that I get to do this soon. *cross fingers*

Hoping that my birthday month will be the best that I have. 🙂 Cheers to December everyone! 🙂

Salarium Adds Fingerprint Authentication to its SAL Time App (PR)

Salarium Blue-Background

Salarium, a software company automating business processes, is proud to announce a new series of apps that enable fingerprint biometric scanning as a form of verification in its SAL Time software. The time is automatically forwarded to SAL Payroll and provides businesses a completely automated method of monitoring employee attendance and processing payroll.

In a conference with local tech bloggers on November 15, Salarium Founder- CEO Judah Hirsch demonstrated how a business can track the attendance of their employees real-time with the integration of SAL Time system on to android biometric devices.

“Our users were tired of inaccurate authentication methods which could often lead to additional work and having to convert biometric output into compatible CSV files. By creating our own time keeping app that works on any Android device with a fingerprint scanner we’re able to give authenticated identification and time-ins in about 5 seconds.”

Administrators can choose to allow employees to quickly identify themselves by either their name, employee ID or RFID badge. Admin can set various authentication methods for the employee including a PIN code, auto selfie, and fingerprint verification.  Through the system’s dashboard, business can monitor the employees who have logged in or out for their shifts and any tardiness or absences.
The data from SAL Time is sent to SAL Pay which automatically computes the number of hours worked, tardiness, and over-break deductions, ready for payroll generation at the end of the cut-off. Employees can also see their time records in real time and dispute any late clock-ins or early clock-outs before generation.

While the app works on any Android device with a fingerprint scanner, Hirsch revealed that they assist some of their clients with sourcing devices from suppliers. He elaborated that this is because some clients prefer certain devices with more powerful fingerprint readers.

Salarium is continuously working on additional solutions and have been recognized when the tech company was named, “Best Startup in the Philippines” at Seedstars World Manila 2014. In February next year, Salarium will represent the country at the competition’s Final Event in Geneva, Switzerland.

For interested businesses, a 30-Day free trial account can be automatically accessed from Salarium’s website.

To know more about the advanced payroll tools made possible by Salarium, visit www.salarium.com. For a free demo request, send an email to info@salarium.com.

Love, Rosie (movie review)

Few week ago, I was invited to the advanced screening of the movie “Love, Rosie” last November 4 at the SM Megamall Cinema 6. But due to technical glitches, it was moved a week later, and glad that it’s already pushed through yay! 😀

Love, Rosie is a British romance-comedy film about two best friends who are in-love, but unexpected things gets in their way. Based on one of Cecelia Ahern‘s bestseller book “Where Rainbows End”, it is filled with love, friendship, laughter and crazy surprises. (I haven’t read the book, but will try to have a copy soon!)

Love, Rosie poster. Taken from Love, Rosie Facebook page

The story starts with Alex ( Sam Claflin) and Rosie (Lily Colins), best friends and neighbors who grew up together since they were 5 years old. As they grow up, their love blossomed, their chemistry increased, their sparks fly. However, there are things and circumstances that are getting in their way to be together, followed by some crazy embarrassing scenes, funny anecdotes and heartbreaking moments that made me laugh, cry and be in love with these two at the same time.

Lily Collins and Sam Claflin’s pairing in the the movie as Rosie and Alex made me feel kilig in so many ways. Lily Collin’s portrayal in the movie made me adore her in this film.

Overall, it’s a feel-good movie that you surely don’t wanna miss! Showing on PH cinemas soon!

*** Thank you Viber Philippines and Ronj of BenteUno.com for the invite!
