Batman Overload at the DC Super Heroes Cosplay Competition

It’s been a while since the last time that I attended the a convention. While I’m accustomed to the Otakus wearing their costumes and reenact their beloved characters back to life while loitering all over the convention area, it’s gonna be a different thing if want to join a cosplay competition. (believe me, it’s nerve-wracking, ‘coz I’ve been there)

Last saturday (Apr. 11) marks the DC Super Heroes Cosplay Competition that is held in SM Manila. 11 amazing cosplayers joined in and are dressed in their favorite DC comics characters.

Hosted by Vinni Misa and JM Borja, we are all entertained by their whimsical information about the DC Comics and their knowledge about the different DC Characters! It was so much fun!

Cosplayer and blogger Judielyn Chang, Model Patrick Yu and Advertising student Almira Teng are the judges for the said event. They will judge the cosplayers based on their creativity, accuracy, stage performance and audience impact.

The cosplayers
Batman Cosplayers

It’s amazing how these DC superhero cosplayers make their moves while on stage! Their amazing costumes and makeup are at par, and most of them are Batman cosplayers in different forms lol! I love baby Battman and cutesy Batgirl the most!

Characters that are also present in the competition is Batman’s trusted sidekick Robin, The Raven of Teen Titans and Justice League’s Green Lantern.

While at the interview, most of the contestants chose Batman as their favorite DC super hero because of his sense of justice. I for one, also liked Batman’s persona because of his mysterious demeanor and he looks sexy when he dons in his bat-themed costume. Bruce Wayne also doesn’t have any superpowers yet he defy the odds and used his strength and wit to serve justice to the evildoers who also killed his parents.

The winners! 😀

The judges came to the decision and here are the winners!

First runner up: Ashley Misaki Hernandez as Batgirl
Second runner up: Mark Celtic Buenaventura as Batman
Third Runner up: Francis Kael Valenzuela as Baby Batman (soooo kawaii!)

Winners will receive cash prizes from the event.

I’d say I have fun throughout the event! And I’ll be looking forward to the upcoming DC Comics all-star fun run and the DC Comics Super Hero world record event on April 18th, SM North EDSA! See you there! 😀

Moving on…

Totally unrelated photo, just putting this Usagi and Luna pic for the lulz 😛

It is the process of moving on and growing up that makes one look forward to the more brighter future and not to look back to that horrid past.

Glad that there are people supporting me, understands me and loving me for being there always, and for being my rock during the darkest times.

Now I’m ready. It may be one of the hardest decisions in life, but I need to do this. For it is the most important thing to do.

BullChef makes me curse a lot in a good way

The original title of this blog post should be: BullChef: mapapamura ka sa sarap! But I had to change it in an instant. True enough, it was one of the best ones that I ever had that I had high praises for. We cursed the food for it’s really damn good. And now I’m craving again. Goodbye diet. Well what the hell is that so-called diet anyway???

SportyGuy, SailorStarCatcher, NekoMimi and SlickMaster (mga itsura ng mga kabataang gutom hohoho!)

I went along with blogger dabarkads Nekomimi Guia, Slickmaster Nestor and Sportyguy Ivan after we had our weekly podcast session (details about it soon!) as we are looking for a place to have our late-night dinner. It was a love at first sight as we saw the witty food names in their menu, and and made a unanimous vote to dine here and give it a try.

Bullalo dishes on the menu
Napakanta ako sa #53, because Ariana Grande :))

Note that we dined in at around 12 midnight. I know it was too late for dinner but we were accommodated by their friendly staff. (thank you thank you guys!)

Testimonials from known TV/online/radio personalities

The place is small but inviting. We noticed the testimonials from celebrities who dined here and loved their Bulalo. Since it’s our first time here, Sir Jeremy (the manager) suggest that we try their bestselling bulalo and tapa dishes. 🙂

Nananawagan po kami na kami po ay pakainin ng tapa ko, mahal ko 😛

Ivan ordered Tapa ko Mahal ko, sweet beef tapa served with fried egg, ensalada, garlic rice and bulalo soup. The single order is huge I think it’s all worth the price. I had a bite on the tapa strip and it was chewy and delicious! The tapa is indeed sweet and flavorful, and makes me want to swap orders with Ivan. But i’m glad I didn’t, hahahah! XD

Bulalo soup is love <3

Another thing that I like in Ivan’s order is the bulalo soup. It was rich, creamy, filling and dreamy. Dreamy because it gives me comfort after every sip. I think the soup itself can be a great meal, just add an extra order of rice then. 😛 (parang ginawa ko lang gravy sa kfc, masarap iulam, well ganun siya kasarap!)

That Ultimate AssemBULL that gave us an ultimatum!

Nes, Guia and I ordered the Ultimate AssemBULL that is said that it’s good for 2-3 persons. It was actually good for 4-5 people! We were then given a separate cup of bulalo sinigang soup as we were waiting for the main event, and as we take the sip, we were like SYET! SARAP! GRABE! $*$&^*&(*)!!!!!

Sorry na I’m/we’re exaggerating. It was a mindblowing sour soup that has a same, think consistency from the Ivan has, and it has a kick of the spiciness that leaves me speechless and made crave for more.

The generous serving of the Ultimate Assembull has portions of beef meat, cartilage, marrow, fat that falls off the bone, except on parts that needs to be used by a knife. It also has generous servings of veggies inside. This is perfect if you wanna get stranded because of the heavy rain and you wanna be warmed up by the delicious goodness coming from the Ultimate AssemBULL.

Boom Busog! XD
here’s what we have to say about their bulalooooo!
Thank you BullChef team for giving us the space to create our own testi :)))

We were all extremely full, sated and satisfied. Good food is best shared with crazy friends, and by that we enjoyed our experience a lot. And also, nakaka-LSS ang song nila. 😛

In fact, we’re planning our our next visit soon, can’t wait to try their Ultimate BullChef Special! 😀

Tara, foodtrip tayo! 😀

Huwag kang mangamba

Huwag kang mangamba, ‘di ka nag-iisa
Sasamahan kita, saan man magpunta
Ika’y mahalaga sa ‘King mga mata
Minamahal kita, minamahal kita

This holy week, let us take a break and reflect. Let’s all reflect on the Lord and his eternal and unconditional love for us. For he dies for us, to save us and to assure us that he is always there through all the storms in life.

Let me share this video – this is an excerpt from the “Sa iyong mga yapak”, a lenten concert from the Philippine Madrigal Singers last 2010. this part of the concert made me teary eyed (a lot), for Fr. Manoling Francisco’s talk reminds us that the Lord is always there, that He will never let us down and he will be, and will always be, my source of strength.

The MADZ’s rendition of the song from Bukas Palad is the most perfect choice for this homily.

A blessed holy week to all. 🙂
