In loving memory

This post is a personal one, so please bear with me.

I still grieve with the loss of one of my closest college friends, who succumbed to heart failure last Tuesday. She is 40 years old.

I managed to visit her last Saturday. She was on the respirator then, still catching her breath. I still fear the sound of the respirator especially if it becomes erratic all of a sudden, and though she can’t speak at that time because of the tubes, she still has the strength to write her thoughts and appreciate everyone who visited and helped her.

I never thought that it’ll be the last time that I will see her.

I still grieve even if it is days already since she passed. But then, I am thankful to our Lord for her life – for she is now free from any physical pain, that she can now in Jesus’ loving embrace, and she is now also with her Tatay in the heavenly abode.

How I wish I could’ve helped her more, especially on her finances during her hospitalization. But I went back to study again, and currently living on a freelancing budget. All I can do for her and for her family at this trying time is to help them in easing up the pain of losing her.

I am also thankful for the celebration of friendship that lasted for decades. She has been one of the most significant people during my college years, along with our barkada that was formed through school hardships, struggles, friendship, and love.

I will miss our late night coffee sessions, food trips, chikahan and just being there for each other despite the distance, time difference and priorities. I still regret not going to the biglaang meetups because of my previous office work schedule, but I am thankful for the things and the fun memories that we had until the end.

Thank you Jesus, for giving us that moment of having her as our dearest friend, sister and confidante. Thank you for giving her the life well-lived. May you welcome her in your heavenly kingdom.

Until we meet again, Che.

Dark or White, You are Beautiful – SkinWhite launches Campaign for skin color equality

When I first saw the ad, I was amazed on how powerful this message is to every Filipino, who many of us think that only mestizas are considered beautiful, that being white is more acceptable in our society, and that being light will make you stand out.

Would you believe that SkinWhite, one of the most-trusted skin-whitening brand, has launched a campaign for skin color equality?

Check out the video to find out more:

I think it’s time for SkinWhite to launch a campaign that will let everyone that EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL– regardless of your skin color. Bullying has been prevalent especially on the rise of social media where one needs to meet this certain criterion of beauty in order to be accepted in our society or else it will be subject to bullying. This has been the main message of this beautiful campaign according to the heads from SkinWhite.

“It’s all about choice”, says Rachelle Layda, Marketing Manager for Whitening of Splash Corporation. “SkinWhite is a brand that empowers women to choose. A choice to define their own standard of beauty. If you choose to have dark skin, you are beautiful. If you choose to have white skin, you are just as beautiful. The choice is yours, and SkinWhite respects that choice”.

The said campaign will definitely be a game changer, as this will not only shut down all the skin shaming being done in all forms, but also those who are into body-shaming, hair-shaming, race-shaming, gender-shaming.  “This is precisely the stigma that we wish to change. Skin color should not be about one being better than the other”, adds Pam Sulit, Splash Corporation’s VP for Marketing.

White and dark are both beautiful,” confirms Rachel Villanueva, Creative Director of Petch & Partners, the creative agency that created this campaign for SkinWhite. She continues, “It’s about time that dark skin and white skin get the same adoration and acknowledgment.”

There has never been an outright claim that DARK IS BEAUTIFUL. And for the statement to come from a skin whitening brand, it should be easy for others to follow suit. And for those who choose that WHITE IS BEAUTIFUL, there’s due acknowledgement that they’re simply taking control of their beauty too. And why not? Wear your skin, whichever way you choose. Because DARK OR WHITE, YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

FSJ Shoes – Comfort and Style that walks with you

I used to be wearing my classic and comfy black pumps when I’m still in a corporate setup. I really missed dressing up for work, but despite trading my pumps to my timeless Chucks (and Superga sneaks for my night class), the kikay side of me still loves to dress up and walk with a pair of FSJ Shoes.

Dressing up in style with FSJ Shoes

Funny She Jill (FSJ) is a shoe brand that was launched in 1998 that offers different shoe designs for different occasions worldwide. I’m glad that they offer a lot from flats to pumps to sandals and boots! Designs are diverse as have design team members from France, Italy, and China, and they have created diverse shoe designs for the bohemian, classy, laid-back and powerful woman on the go.

What FSJ Shoes has to offer

I’d say that FSJ Shoes has a lot to offer for everyone – from flats, pumps, sling backs, mules, t-strap, sandals, Mary Janes, ankle straps, ankle boots, and even boots!

The easy online shopping experience

Another thing that I like about FSJ shoes is that they also have shoes for big sizes! Their sizes range from US size 3 to 15, so for sure FSJ Shoes has a perfect pair of you.

LG Launches Laundry love to break gender stereotypes

March is National Women’s month, and what better way to celebrate this momentous event by celebrating gender equality with the launch of the Laundry Love campaign from LG Home Appliances, eradicating the traditional gender roles that still exists in every household.

LG Laundry Love Campaign
LG Laundry Love Campaign

To celebrate this momentous event, LG Home Appliances has invited the modern alpha males – motoring expert James Deakin, actor/model Eric “Eruption” Tai, and PBA player LA Tenorio to do their family laundry. Yes, they are not limited to do their own stuff, for they can also do things that women do, and that includes doing the family laundry with the use of LG washing machines.

LG’s latest line of smart appliances, especially on washing machines are convenient for everyone for their needs, especially for men who are looking for the most convenient and easiest way to wash all the dirty laundry, making sure that all the laundry will not only be squeaky clean but also allergy-free as well.

“At LG, we believe in using technology to simplify life and to save time. Our washing machines are top-of-the-line products that are designed to make doing the laundry less complicated and more energy efficient. It is with our hope that the men of the household will see doing the family laundry less as a chore, but more as a way of showing support for their loved ones.” said LG managing director Inkwon Heo during the Love Laundry campaign launch.

We believe in LG’s line of home appliances for we also own a washing machine also from the same brand for years. LG’s campaign resonates in our household as well for my Dad and my younger brother also helps us in our weekly laundry.

Coinciding with this event, LG has opened its doors to the residents of Barangay Maybunga in Pasig do their laundry for free using their line of powerful washers. This is their way of giving back to the community, and they are also planning on having a mobile laundry van soon for the different barangays of Metro Manila.

To get more information about the event, follow the hashtag #LGLaundryLove. For more info about their line of household appliances, visit and follow @LGPhilippines on Facebook and Instagram.

Breaking the stigma: The wonders of using modern contraception for women

Ok girls, listen up!

I’m tired of listening to horror stories on women staying away from using contraception, especially on pills because of its rumored adverse effects on our body. The latest studies show that there are more positive effects on the women’s body by using contraceptives apart from not getting pregnant.

This is what we learned during our “PillowTalk” session with Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Dr. Amity Casurao-Trono and renowned Actress/Comedian, Via Antonio a week ago that is hosted by Bayer Pharmaceuticals.

The aim of the intimate ladies-only talk is to educate us ladies on its importance of reproductive health and to correct the misconceptions about modern contraceptives.

I am thankful that I am included in this intimate session for I learned a lot from Via and Doc Amity.

Let me share some of the insights during the event:

Via Antonio’s advocacy – breaking the stigma on using the pill

I can feel Actress and Comedian Via Antonio’s advocacy to break the stigma of using the pill for it still remains a taboo topic for most Filipinas. True enough, as many of us didn’t know, the pill is one of the most effective forms of contraceptive. She also told us her story of her being a young mom while still in college. The pill is still being associated with users having a promiscuous lifestyle, while it also has many benefits apart from avoiding getting pregnant, such as having a regular menstrual cycle, controls bleeding and many more. It is also used by those being diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome).

Pillowtalk with Dra. Amity Trono – what is real and what is not on using contraception

Dra Amity, an OB-Gyne at the St. Lukes Medical Center and Rizal Medical Center, enlighten us on what is the real deal and fake news on using contraceptives. Let me share some with you:

  • Among the types of modern contraceptives, the pill, IUD/Intrauterine system (IUS), female sterilization, contraceptive patch, and injection are the most effective forms of contraception with ~99% efficiency.
  • Amongst all forms of modern contraceptives, the pill remains to be the most effective and the most preferred for they are the most convenient, non-invasive and the reversible.
  • There are two types of pills available for purchase – the combined oral contraceptive (COC) pill, which contains both progestin and estrogen hormones, and the mini pill, more known as the progestin-only pill (POP).
  • Pills can also treat a variety of hormone-based conditions and imbalances such as hyperandrogenism, premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Most of the women who are using COCs report no adverse effects.
  • Select COC pills offer added benefits to women, such as reducing estrogen-related fluid retention and bloating, regulates hormonal problems such as acne, facial hair, and hair loss.

Speaking of pills, here’s the truth behind all the fake myths:

  • Pills do not cause birth defects – there are no adverse effects on using the COCs during early pregnancy. it is also not associated with the increase in spontaneous abortions.
  • Pills do not increase cancer risk – modern studies have shown that there is no direct risk in using the pill for breast cancer. in fact, the pill reduces the risk of getting a certain type of sarcoma-related diseases such as ovarian cancer, endometrial cancer, and colorectal cancer.
  • Pills will not make every girl infertile – the main purpose of the pill is to prevent every woman from conceiving. in fact, one can get pregnant after not using the recommended COCs and POP for a month.

There’s a lot to know more about us women and our own reproductive health. Taking pills should be a norm especially now that young women are at risk of getting pregnant and their future is at stake.

ASG Technologies Advances Mobius Content Services to Match the Velocity of Evolving Business User Needs

ASG Technologies, a trusted provider of proven solutions for information access, management and control for the world’s top enterprises, today unveiled Mobius 9.1, the newest release of its content services solution. Mobius 9.1 provides organizations with the services needed to capture and manage content through its lifecycle, execute workflows and govern information across federated repositories for a single view of enterprise content.

This release includes new workflow builder capabilities which enable organizations to design and build workflows visually in a low-code or no-code environment to meet the changing needs of the digitally-connected enterprise. Architected for deployment on cloud, on premises or in hybrid configurations, customers can adopt cloud platforms at the pace of their business. Mobius 9.1 scales to manage unlimited amounts, and most any type, of enterprise content to meet a wide range of business requirements while supporting important regulatory compliance projects.

Highlights of ASG Mobius 9.1 include:

  • Low-Code/No-Code Workflow Capabilities: Next-generation content-centric workflow services equipped with low-code/no-code builder, visual design tools and rapid deployment technology to quickly implement, measure and adjust workflows that coordinate tasks and decisions such as invoicing, accounts payable approvals and compliance reporting, among others.
  • Records Management Enrichment: Time- and event-based rules can now be applied to the workflow capability to automate operational processes such as setting new retentions, tagging records for deletion and changing document categories, helping streamline exception processes and improve response time.
  • User Interface Enhancements: Updated user interface across platforms, from PC to mobile, including responsive design to automatically support the range of form factors with touch screen viewing of documents, participation in workflow and mobile capture.
  • Public Cloud Optimization: Leverages Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, including auto scaling processing, expanding storage and providing containerized delivery for rapid deployment across platforms.

Organizations are often unable to consolidate a comprehensive single view of content stored across disparate repositories. This lack of visibility into unstructured content is making it increasingly difficult for organizations to gain the value of all related content within the enterprise while complying with the increasing number of regulations. Mobius 9.1 reduces the risk of non-compliance by securing and governing content storage and access.

“Mobius 9.1 simplifies the complex challenges associated with content in today’s organizations so they can be responsive,” said David Downing, EVP of Product Management and Product Marketing, ASG Technologies. “By delivering a single view of all related content and automating records management processes, Mobius 9.1 provides the visibility organizations need to more easily gather and act on new business intelligence.”

“The future of workforce productivity will be driven by content strategies that are contextual, agile and fluid. This will demand vendor solutions that prioritize metadata and content-based workflows, while offering automation features that can reduce the number of manual tasks faced during the work day,” said Conner Forrest, Analyst with the Workforce Productivity & Compliance team at 451 Research. “With the delivery of Mobius 9.1, ASG is clearly aligned with these market trends.”

“Mobius 9.1 ensures our customers are able to seamlessly integrate and federate all content and digital assets with their suite of business systems and applications,” said Ryan McVeigh, Managing Partner at Zia Consulting. “This capability allows them to guarantee they are governing information with accuracy and reliability, while also enabling digital transformation to help grow their business.”

For more information, check out our blog post on the new release. Or, you can learn more by joining our Mobius 9.1 webinar at 1:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 4, 2019 and by visiting our Content Services page.
